First idea won't work, let's go with the second

I had all these ideas written in my notepad for her first birthday theme, but when I added up the decorations and got some figures on how much things would cost...I sadly moved on. With me not working, I really have to be careful where I spend our money. 1st birthday party or mortgage? I had to pause for a second on what the right answer was. (jk)

So the theme has been set in stone. I booked a balloon place and am movin on to the diy stuff meaning invitations, guest table area, sweets section, and the "other" section. Hopefully I can blog about my findings and my diy stuff (but might move the diy section to the craft blog).

The theme...

ladybugs, the little lucky creatures! really, they bring blessings to farmers and to the hubs. He found a dead one in his caesar salad at Black Angus last week and we got comped. Lucky us!

Any and all ideas are soooooo welcome!

"Look pretty"

I've been trying to teach our coyote sign language for the past month with no results. She does this wrist twisting motion periodically, and I keep thinking to myself is she signing "all done"???? No, I think not. She does it at the most random times. Oh well, I'll keep at it with hopes that one day she'll sign "I love you" and make my heart melt.

What she has caught on to is to "Look Pretty" aka eepunjee!

These pics remind me why I love having a girl. To think, I only wanted two boys! I wouldn't have been able to tell them to look pretty or make them this dress:

My next venture from this site, katiedid. So cute! The models make it look even cuter. I shall do it this weekend since the hubs is going to be out of town. Hate lonely weekends!

My first ride

I've wanted to bust this out for awhile now, but for some reason, I thought I needed the hubs to be with me. Why? I don't know. I kept thinking it would take time to set up or I would need an extra hand in case she went ballistic in the cart.

She was fine though and actually seemed to enjoy the shopping cart ride. There was a lot going on in Costco today, so she was easily entertained by all the people and the loud beeping noises of the box lifting machines.

Last night was dinner at Mastros. My sis babysat for us so we could go eat grown up style...a first in a LONG TIME. Let me just say, Mastros in Costa Mesa has a completely different feel than the one in Bev Hills. I thought I was in a sports bar! We wanted to sit near the piano playing man, and he was situated next to the bar. Three big flat screen TVs were playing baseball games, people in shorts and white t-shirts were eating at the bar like it was TGIFs, and the waiters had no shame in chit chatting away loudly enough for us to hear. It was so strange and so not what I expected since the BH location made me feel like I was under dressed in jeans & heels.

Food was still good though, but I wonder if it's worth the $. We had the Mambo Salad (I could get this time and time again), Bone in Filet for me, Bone in Rib Eye for him, Lyonnaise Au Gratin Potatoes and Gorgonzola Mac & Cheese. Oh and don't forget our drinks - $5 soda and $17 M Bar Flirtini. I couldn't even drink half of my martini because it was so strong. They are not sheisty with their vodka! The shaker had enough for another full glass, so the hubs was lovin it.

Leftovers for lunch today. Sigh...I feel like I gained 5 lbs from all that cheese and gogi.

Frustration

for Lila. She's teething again! Her top tooth (why did I think teeth came out in pairs??) is breaking through, AND it's a big one! It's nicknamed the chipmunk tooth. She hasn't been waking up at night because of the pain, but I could tell it's been bothering her during the day. She's drooling, mouthing everything in sight, and just showing signs of irritability. It probably doesn't help that she's frustrated about not being mobile either!

Three days ago, she started doing the belly crawl or the commando crawl. She's been using her big belly to move around in circles and combining that with rolling to get around to her favorite toys like the diaper caddy and the remote controls. I can't imagine how it will be once she gets the hang of crawling! I'm not even close to baby proofing anything.

My next project needs to be creating a gated space for her with those mats. Anyone recommend good play mats?

My other project is to get the hubs to create this for my backyard:

He said he would after glancing at it during Entourage. HAHA yea right! I doubt he remembers me showing him this. I really do want a little veggie garden now that our backyard has been torn up. No more scary weeds and mosquitoes! Yay!

Anyhow, our first nanny night out went great! Maybe I can drop the texting every other hour now. Next up is date night w/ the hubs next Friday at Mastros...celebrating a belated anniversary and our birthdays.

Lastly, skb is having her baby tonight. Fighting mama! Can't wait to see E!

Just breathe

The Renegade is over, and we are very happy that we participated in this fair. I can breathe a sigh of relief now. I have somewhat of a break from crafting to focus on some other important things like planning the dol. AH! Yes, the dol is coming up, and I am reminded every so often to start thinking about booking stuff. Venue is set. Food is set. Dduk is set. Next up is photographer and decorations. I'm hoping I can make the invitations and some fun gift bags for the lil ones attending. We'll see if that happens!

Anyhow, the Renegade was tons of fun, and we made some new craft friends. The whole fam came over in addition to several cousins with their significant others (first time meeting them)! One particular cousin wasn't too happy that I didn't have our alma mater on one of the paperweights. Sorry...I didn't think anteaters were so gung-ho about their college. :P

Lila was a trooper. Actually I should say both daddy and Lila were troopers for making the trip downtown. It was so great seeing her since I barely got to spend time with her during the weekend.

I attended a wedding on Sunday, and it was beautiful. Four Seasons. It had to be beautiful! The bride was gorgeous, and she changed into the most prettiest han-boks I've seen. I wish I took a picture of it. It was a modern version of a han-bok...long white strapless dress with flower detailing on the bust area. I want one!

I'll be going to another wedding this Saturday, and I've hired a nanny. Yes, this is a first. I'm nervous. I have our phone numbers jotted down as well as two other numbers of people who will be at the wedding. Doctor's number as well. Hmm...anything else? Crossing my fingers Lila will stay asleep and not make a peep.

Renegade Part II

Not meant for babies, but here is a pic of Lila modeling the panda bobby pin. I managed to grab a good wisp to secure the bobby pin.

Renegade!

Making the trip to LA this afternoon in mega traffic to set up our booth. Appa has fun plans for Lila this weekend since he has her all to herself...lunch at Portillo's, driving to LA to visit me, maybe swimming (yea right...it takes two people to do that)!

Lots of cool stuff for everyone!

yummy sushi!

It's been well over a year since I've had sushi. Oh how I miss Midori all you can eat sushi in Encino! One day, we will visit you soon.

The fam took me out for bday sushi, and I devoured the spicy tuna, dynamite, soft shell crab, baked scallops rolls like it was nothing. YUMMY! I want to go again! Why did I wait this long to eat sushi??? BF sites say it's ok to eat whatever you want...all in moderation!

Restaurant eating has gotten a little tricky now. No more bringing in the stroller or car seat. Lila now gets to eat in her portable fisher price seat which is soooo weird to me! She's getting so big :( I'm still not used to her sitting with us at the dinner table expecting to be fed a meal.

7 month check up was a good one! Lila showed the doctor she could sit all by herself. Appa was so proud! Kisses all around!
